We’re passionate about creating the best experience with our products at every touch point, which is why we created our very own in-house, and free to access, training academy. Keeping you up to date with our products and any legislative changes in the industry, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Our training academy is designed to offer both practical and theory elements, also giving you a rounded view of our products and the wider industry. Whether you are an installer, fabricator, designer, or anyone else in the industry who is interested in finding out more about our innovative systems, there’s something for everyone.

Not only do we offer expert training around our products, but we’re making sure you’re always up to speed with the most relevant industry information around. From our GQA accredited Building Regulations course to our RIBA CPD seminars specifically created to inform and inspire Architects and Specifiers, and all free too.

Darren graduated in 2001 from the University of Glamorgan with an honours degree in Architectural Technology and holds a NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.
He has been involved within the Fenestration Industry for over 20 years since leaving University both within the PVCu and aluminium sectors.
Darren has been with AluK for more than 10 years and has worked in a variety of roles within the company.
Thanks to his passion his role has evolved into the AluK Academy Training Manager.

Fantastic knowledge-led seminar led by Darren Burford of AluK explaining the various systems available in the AluK range. Valuable input on the impending changes to the Building Regs and advice on how HMP Industries can effectively futureproof our aluminium fabrication to ensure we comply.
The LogiKal programming element of the course was really useful. Darren aimed the tailored walk-through of the system to suit the requirements of HMP. All the trainees responded well and gained an understanding of the package so that they were able to programme a window and door by the end of the day.
I’d like to thank Darren for his expert delivery and the easy approachable manner in which he disseminated all the information. The relationship between AluK and HMP Industries has been further cemented as a result.

In the replacement market only, companies can demonstrate compliance using either WERs or U-Value calculations. Unlike many others, we took the U-Value route as we believe it’s better option for fabricators and homeowners.

One of the key benefits of using AluK windows, doors and curtain walling is thatthey are virtually corrosion and maintenance free. That’s because the surfaceof the aluminium we use is pre-treated and then powder coated to by us to ensure maximum durability, even in coastal and highly polluted environments.
Withevery aspect of the powder-coating process in-house, we can offer a fast andhighly flexible service even on dual colours. And just as importantly we canoffer competitive prices because we don’t rely on external suppliers.

Our industry-leading vertical paint plant provides outstanding performance for our customers.
· 11-step pre-treatment process for maximum quality of finish, Qualicoat approved
· All products are finished in Qualicoat Seaside with a ≥60 micron coating, ensuring maximum durability as standard.
· 2000+ colour and texture change versatility
· AkzoNobel Interpon and Axalta powder coatings, specially designed for the architectural and construction industry and proven in use for over 40 years
· A fast 8-minute colour changeover, painting on average over 20 colours per shift to maintain fast lead times
· Our vertical paint line features two V-shaped spray booths with 8 guns on each side for the even coating – offering a better finish than a horizontal line
· Two separate spray booths which together give us a capacity of almost 700 m2 of painted profile per hour
Qualicoat Seaside – As Standard
We took the decision to offer all profiles painted in Qualicoat Seaside. This means our profile goes through our 11-stage pre-treatment process and receives a 2g etch rate as standard for a cleaner substrait. The more you etch, the better the paint adhesion will be. We can be confident that wherever our systems are installed, the paint will stand the test of time.
11Step Process
AluK’s11-stage pre-treatment process relies on zirconium and titanium rather thanchromate to provide outstanding corrosion protection for our aluminiumsubstrate and the ideal surface for optimum paint adhesion. We use eco-friendlyGardobond™ X4707 technology in a dip and rinse sequence to deliver a coatingweight of between 3 and 20 mg/m2 of both elements onto the aluminium.Independent AASS, CASS and filiform corrosion tests have proven the quality ofthe Gardobond™ X4707 finish and the results are easily as good as chromatedprofiles.
Crucially, the aluminium moves from pre-treatment to our huge, state of the art verticalpowder coat paint line without any manual handling. This fully automatedprocess where all the profile is vertically hung throughout guarantees there isno potential for contamination or damage and contrasts sharply with the basketprocess used by some of our competitors.
Wehave two separate spray booths to give us a capacity of almost 700m2 of paintedprofile every hour. We use AkzoNobel Interpon powder coatings, specificallydesigned for the architectural and construction industry, which offer anexcellent combination of exterior durability and both colour and glossretention.
Obviously, because we offer a Qualicoat approved product, the finish is guaranteed to meetspecific pre-set parameters. You can specify Qualicoat Class 1 or Class 2finishes depending on the likely temperature, UV and humidity exposure, andchoose from a vast range of colours and finishes.
Enhanced Sustainability
Because our paint line is one of the newest and most modern of any aluminium systems house, we can deliver the kinds of efficiencies and environmental impactreductions which are simply not possible using older technologies. For instance, we capture 98% of the excess powder used in our spray booth so thatit can be filtered and reused to
minimisewaste.
And,we also have our own effluent treatment plant where the water we use in treatedand filtered. By the time we release it back into the environment, it is evencleaner than mains drinking water.

There are four standard colour collections available with a range of textured, non-textured, metallic, and special effects finishes, all applied in-house.

As well as creating market-leading facades, we also have a vested interest in the industry as a whole. Our in-house design studio was created as a space for collaboration, education and interaction. Playing host to a range of specialist events and CPD seminars, our door is always open.
We invite you to take a look around, to see our innovative product range first-hand, and use the Design Studio as a central meeting space or small venue for your next construction-industry event.
Our in-house Design Studio is a space for collaboration. Networking, education and interaction, bringing AluK’s range of curtain walling, window and door systems to our HQ. We host a wide range of industry focused events including panel debates hosted by RIBA Journal, CPD presentations, product launches and demos, as well as networking and social events, like our popular quiz nights.
The studio also showcases full size aluminium curtain walling, window and door systems; where our clients can view and interact with these systems to understand the benefits and flexibility they offer for modern construction.
We’re one of the very few UK systems houses to have design, development and testing facilities all under one roof, with two large scale UKAS accredited rigs at our Chepstow HQ.
A 5m wide x 6m high weather test rig lets us test windows, doors and curtain walling elements to see how they will perform in the worst of the UK weather – from wind loading and safety gusting to air and water penetration.
We can test to all the elements of the PAS24 security test on our smaller 3.5m x 3.5m test rig, and cycle test hardware to make sure it’s more than up to the operational forces of our sliders and bifolds.

"Our weather test rig is 5m wide and 6m high"
There’s more to our testing than just accreditations though. We test throughout the development stage of every new product to make sure it meets the required performance targets, and we can even work live on the test rigs if we need to implement project-based design solutions for specific applications.

"There’s 100+ ways to fail a test, but usually only one way to pass"
We can share all this knowledge and experience with you to help you get your own products independently tested and accredited as simply and cost effectively as possible.
We also work in collaboration with the testing, inspection and certification specialists BM Trada so that the vast majority of our products are certified under their Q-Mark scheme. That means you can join Q-Mark for yourselves and access the scope of our long-term testing regimes for yourselves.

The government has now published the response to the Future Homes Standard consultation, giving our industry a clear view of the performance requirements for new-build homes from 2027. For aluminium systems, the update brings welcome clarity. The notional U-Value for windows is set at 1.2 W/m²K, avoiding the previously feared 0.8 W/m²K and supporting a practical balance between efficiency and cost.
From 2027, however, U‑Values must be calculated using the actual size and configuration of each window - not the traditional standard test size. This shift moves the industry toward genuine performance and tighter alignment between designed and delivered energy outcomes.
The rules also expand calculations to include cills, couplers, and add-ons, increasing technical demands for fabricators, installers, and specifiers. This addition added to the changes in calculating U-Values based on actual sizes will present a challenge to the whole industry, but one we’re ready for at AluK. Our estimating software already calculates the whole window U-Values , and all the frame if data we input is validated by third‑party Notified Bodies.
As you’d expect, we are planning our schedule to get all new product simulations done by 2027, so we and our customers will be in a strong position when the FHS comes into force.
We hope you find this guide useful and our team is on‑hand to support you through the process.

According to industry research, energy efficiency is still the third highest priority for homeowners looking to invest in new windows and doors (after quality and security) and surely, they have to be able to trust every promise being made by suppliers on the performance of their products?
We believe so. That’s why AluK is committed to driving up standards right across the industry and compliance is a major part of that. We recognise that Part L is challenging, but it’s certainly not insurmountable.

Systems House – the systems house is responsible for any system related data. This is usually supplied using technical manuals or data sheets.
Fabricator – the fabricator is responsible for supplying the correct finished product and associated data, inline with the current legislation. If the glass is not supplied, information relating to the required thermal performance of the glass unit must be available.
Installer – the installer is responsible for the product in situ and the UKCA/CE marking.
Using information supplied from all parties the installer must ensure that the correctspecification of product is correctly installed.

As a systems house, we have no choice but to comply with the new lower U-Values. We support the aim to reduce our carbon footprint in the UK and want to play our part by ensuring our windows and doors meet the new limiting values.

DID YOU KNOW? We offer customers the opportunity to take over our training space to train their top installers.
Ensuring our systems are correctly installed is vitally important to us, to you, and to the end user. That’s why we train installers on all of our systems, providing GQA-accredited installation and product awareness training on both residential and commercial systems, all from our fully-accredited AluK Training Academy in Chepstow. Theoretical training courses are also delivered virtually for added flexibility. Our route to meet the new regulations and support our customers has meant engineering many improvements to the internal design without changing the appearance of our systems.
Using new thermal break designs and foams, and new gaskets, our well-loved products have been modified to comfortably meet the new regulations for new build and existing dwellings.
Rest assured that many of our standard (non-HI) products can achieve both the ‘Limiting’ and lower ‘Notional’ U-values given in the English and Welsh regulations using triple glazing, if that is your preferred route.
For more information on new Part L regulations, head over to our dedicated website.

We’re one of the very few UK systems houses to have design, development and testing facilities all under one roof, with two large scale UKAS accredited rigs at our Chepstow HQ.
A 5m wide x 6m high weather test rig lets us test windows, doors and curtain walling elements to see how they will perform in the worst of the UK weather – from window loading and safety gusting to air and water penetration. We can test to all the elements of the PAS24 security test on our smaller 3.5m x 3.5m test, and cycle test hardware to make sure it’s more than up to the operational forces of our sliders and bifolds.
· Air, wind & water testing to BS 6375-1
· PAS24 Security testing
· Installation and Fit & Function testing
· Roler cycle testing

"Our weather test rig is 5m wide and 6m high"
There’s more to our testing than just accreditations though. Wetest throughout the development stage of every new product to make sure itmeets the required performance targets. We can even work live on the test rigsif we need to implement project-based design solutions for specific applicationsand test them quickly to support project deadlines.
Having this in-house know-how means we design our products to meetand exceed the strictest testing criteria. This knowledge is backed up withindependent UKAS testing and CWCT.
Like many systems companies, we also carry out thermal simulationsin-house. However, unlike many other systems companies, we also get thosesimulations accredited by an independent third party, European Notified Body. Thismeans that you can be sure that our frame U-values are an accuraterepresentation of you will get in reality.
Secured by Design
Our SBD scope is ascomprehensive as they come. Secured by Design (SBD) is the official police security initiative that works to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings to provide safe places to live, work, shop and visit.
SBD’s product based accreditation scheme – the Police Preferred Specification - provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime.

"There’s 100+ ways to fail a test, but usually only one way to pass"
We can share all this knowledge and experience with you to helpyou get your own products independently tested and accredited as simply andcost effectively as possible.
We also work in collaboration with the testing, inspection andcertification specialists BM Trada so that the vast majority of our products arecertified under their Q-Mark scheme. That means you can join Q-Mark foryourselves and access the scope of our long-term testing regimes for yourselvesthrough our third-party umbrella scheme. We test, you benefit.

At AluK, we pretreat aluminium profiles using a combination of alkaline and acid processes to ensure they are thoroughly cleaned and properly prepared prior to powder coating. As part of this pretreatment stage, a titanium conversion coating is applied to enhance corrosion resistance and improve overall coating performance.
Throughout production, the process is closely monitored and controlled through regular laboratory analysis and testing, ensuring all products consistently meet the Qualicoat quality standard.
In addition, pretreatment wastewater is managed via our on-site water treatment plant. Wastewater generated during production is treated and neutralised before being safely discharged to the sewer. This ensures full compliance with the environmental requirements of Natural Resources Wales and Welsh Water, helping to protect the environment while maintaining strict regulatory standards.

One of the key benefits of using AluK windows, doors and curtain walling is that they are virtually corrosion and maintenance free. That’s because the surface of the aluminium we use is pre-treated and then powder coated by us to ensure maximum durability, even in coastal and highly polluted environments.
With every aspect of the powder-coating process in-house, we can offer a fast and highly flexible service even on dual colours. And just as importantly we can offer competitive prices because we don’t rely on external suppliers.
Finished to Perfection
Our industry-leading vertical paint plant provides outstanding performance for our customers.

AluK’s 11-stage pre-treatment process relies on zirconium and titanium rather than chromate to provide outstanding corrosion protection for our aluminium substrate and the ideal surface for optimum paint adhesion. We use eco-friendly Gardobond™ X4707 technology in a dip and rinse sequence to deliver a coating weight of between 3 and 20 mg/m2 of both elements onto the aluminium. Independent AASS, CASS and filiform corrosion tests have proven the quality of the Gardobond™ X4707 finish and the results are easily as good as chromated profiles.
Crucially, the aluminium moves from pre-treatment to our huge, state of the art vertical powder coat paint line without any manual handling. This fully automated process where all the profile is vertically hung throughout guarantees there is no potential for contamination or damage and contrasts sharply with the basket process used by some of our competitors.
We have two separate spray booths to give us a capacity of almost 700m2 of painted profile every hour. We use AkzoNobel Interpon powder coatings, specifically designed for the architectural and construction industry, which offer an excellent combination of exterior durability and both colour and gloss retention.
Obviously, because we offer a Qualicoat approved product, the finish is guaranteed to meet specific pre-set parameters. You can specify Qualicoat Class 1 or Class 2 finishes depending on the likely temperature, UV and humidity exposure, and choose from a vast range of colours and finishes.

Because our paint line is one of the newest and most modern of any aluminium systems house, we can deliver the kinds of efficiencies and environmental impact reductions which are simply not possible using older technologies. For instance, we capture 98% of the excess powder used in our spray booth so that it can be filtered and reused to minimise waste.
And, we also have our own effluent treatment plant where the water we use in treated and filtered. By the time we release it back into the environment, it is even cleaner than mains drinking water.

From trusted favourites to the latest innovations, our comprehensive range of aluminium window and door systems has been designed and developed here in the UK with fabricators, installers and homeowners in mind at every stage.
Furthermore, every system delivers the aesthetic appeal and exceptional build quality demanded by the industry. It also goes without saying they’ve all been tested and certified to the latest standards and accreditations.
These include PAS 24, BS4873, Secured By Design and Qualicoat for starters. Not to mention ISO 9001. They also hold Q-Mark Certifications for general performance windows and enhanced security windows and doors.
Whichever system you choose, we’ll work closely with you to ensure you have all the information you require for successful fabrication and installation.
All the latest structural, thermal and wind calculations are available, as is a comprehensive suite of CAD, NBS Specifications, performance and environmental data.

Our 350,000sq/ft distribution centre is packed from floor to ceiling with aluminiumprofile, parts and accessories in over 5,000 locations. We stock hundreds ofprofiles in stock finishes, available on a fast, 5-day lead time. This volume on the ground in our Chepstow facility means we’re geared up to provide flexibility and speed, unlike many competitors who export from overseas.
Our UK logistics operation is powered by our own fleet of trucks and we cover the whole of the UK and Ireland.
We offer a consistent stock range across our full product offering of black, white, and grey, all painted in our world-leading vertical paint plant.
Our profiles are taped at no extra charge to protect your delivery.
