Meeting and Networking

As well as creating market-leading facades, we also have a vested interest in the industry as a whole. Our in-house design studio was created as a space for collaboration, education and interaction. Playing host to a range of specialist events and CPD seminars, our door is always open.

We invite you to take a look around, to see our innovative product range first-hand, and use the Design Studio as a central meeting space or small venue for your next construction-industry event.

Industry leading events

Our in-house Design Studio is a space for collaboration. Networking, education and interaction, bringing AluK’s range of curtain walling, window and door systems. We host a wide range of industry focused events including panel debates hosted by RIBA Journal, CPD presentations, product launches and demos, as well as networking and social events, like our popular quiz nights.

Get up close and personal

The studio also showcases full size aluminium curtain walling, window and door systems; where our clients can view and interact with these systems to understand the benefits and flexibility they offer for modern construction.

In house facilities

Design, development and testing

We’re one of the very few UK systems houses to have design, development and testing facilities all under one roof, with two large scale UKAS accredited rigs at our Chepstow HQ.

A 5m wide x 6m high weather test rig lets us test windows, doors and curtain walling elements to see how they will perform in the worst of the UK weather – from wind loading and safety gusting to air and water penetration.

We can test to all the elements of the PAS24 security test on our smaller 3.5m x 3.5m test rig, and cycle test hardware to make sure it’s more than up to the operational forces of our sliders and bifolds.

"Our weather test rig is 5m wide and 6m high"

In-house tests

There’s more to our testing than just accreditations though. We test throughout the development stage of every new product to make sure it meets the required performance targets, and we can even work live on the test rigs if we need to implement project-based design solutions for specific applications.

"There’s 100+ ways to fail a test, but usually only one way to pass"

Customer support

We can share all this knowledge and experience with you to help you get your own products independently tested and accredited as simply and cost effectively as possible.

We also work in collaboration with the testing, inspection and certification specialists BM Trada so that the vast majority of our products are certified under their Q-Mark scheme. That means you can join Q-Mark for yourselves and access the scope of our long-term testing regimes for yourselves.

Paint technology

The large-scale vertical paint line at our Chepstow production facility has two separate spray booths which together give us a capacity of almost 700m2 of painted profile per hour in any RAL colour you choose.

All our paint is AkzoNobel Interpon- specially designed for the architectural and construction industry with excellent durability, colour, and gloss retention.

We are also proud Qualicoat Seaside licence holders, which means both our processes and our products are approved for coastal and high pollution environments.

Environmentally friendly

With the emphasis on minimising our environmental impact as much as possible, our pre-treatment process is alkaline and 100% chromate free. We capture 98% of the excess powder used in the spray booth, ready to be filtered and reused, and we treat and filter all the water we use so that by the time it is released, it’s even cleaner than mains drinking water.

Colours

There are four standard colour collections available with a range of textured, non-textured, metallic, and special effects finishes, all applied in-house.

Sustainability

Our commitment

At AluK, sustainability isn't just a buzzword; it's our guiding principle. Take a look at our commitment to a greener future, where eco-friendly practices meet innovative design. Explore how we're reducing our carbon footprint, embracing renewable energy, and leading the charge towards a brighter tomorrow.

Certifications & Regulations

We’re proud to hold certifications that reflect our commitment to eco-friendly practices. From reducing landfill waste to crafting energy efficient designs, we’re leading the way for a greener tomorrow. We have a number of accreditations including, vitally, the fact that we’re ISO 14001:2015 certified to meet Environmental Management System standards. We also closely follow and adapt to work in line with the latest government regulations.

As an example of this, we’re Part L Compliant for both New Build Homes and Existing Homes. We’re keenly awaiting the future sustainability goals report to understand the latest guidelines we should work towards. But not only this – we’re constantly looking for ways to work more efficiently and keenly, regardless of what guidelines are in place, to better ourselves.

Continuous Improvement

At AluK, we’re always looking for ways to be better and ‘greener’. We have recently achieved a 25% reduction in energy consumption, which is a result of our team’s hard work and the new practices we’ve put in place through our continuous R&D. As a result of this research, we’ve been able to develop highly energy efficiency products that align with sustainability goals – both our own and those set by the wider regulatory bodies.

Additionally, we’re exploring the true potential of solar power. While looking closely into solar panelling, we’ll be able to address industry-specific environmental campaigns and make a real difference. This continual drive towards sustainability will not only reduce our own energy consumption but will also form part of the ever-increasing positive impact that we want to have on the planet.

What We Can Do – Together

The key objectives from our sustainability ambitions we’ve put into place include: mapping and reducing our carbon footprint; developing the tools required to achieve our goals and make a tangible difference to the environment; and raising awareness among our partners and all those we work with about what we’re doing, and how you can work with us for a brighter tomorrow. It’s our pledge to you that sustainability is, and will continue to be, at the heart of what we do here at AluK.

Just like our planet, our commitment isn’t going anywhere – so it’s vital that we all band together and do what we can to make a difference. We’re certified, accredited and always looking for ways to improve, embracing all the possibilities of renewable energy.
